Book a 20-Min Discovery Call

Debbie has helped me navigate my twenties. She's like the older sister who's been through it all and knows exactly what you need to hear. While I was taking care of everybody else, she’s helped me work through family, job/career, money and budgeting. In fact, we’re still working through it. Because whether I need a pep talk, someone to vent to, or an actual template for something, she’s there. Nonjudgmental, empathetic, and full of wisdom. She’s a genuine people person and a girls’ girl."

Hi, I’m Debbie,

the face and heart behind Rising Clarity.

After a season of deep burnout and profound personal loss, I found myself navigating life in survival mode. I had lost my husband, stepped into the role of caretaker for my mother, and was simultaneously working, raising children, volunteering, and trying to show up for my community and close friends. I was exhausted, alternating between anxiety and panic, then swinging to complete numbness.

It was in that space of complete physical, emotional, and spiritual depletion that I discovered mindfulness — not as a trendy practice, but as a lifeline. Mindfulness, along with other contemplative practices like yoga and somatic awareness, gave me the tools to grieve, to recalibrate, and begin again, knowing myself more fully and compassionately than I ever had before.

Over time, I came to understand that the kind of healing and resilience I experienced wouldn’t have been possible through my mind alone. True healing lives in the body, in our willingness to be with what we feel. Learning to notice what I was holding in my body became just as essential as noticing my thoughts.

As my practice deepened, I began to notice something missing in the wellness spaces I entered: representation. Too often, the faces, voices, and cultural perspectives in mindfulness and yoga didn’t reflect the cultures from which they were born or the diversity of the populations participating in them. I found myself wanting to create spaces where everyone, especially those historically underrepresented, could feel seen, safe, and supported in their healing.

Simultaneously, I realized that while my professional background has been varied (ranging from teaching literature to working in Human Resources and consulting for businesses) there has always been a through line of helping and service that I have honored. Over time, that thread revealed itself as part of my ongoing, larger purpose, and I inevitably made the pivot to working full time in the helping and healing space.

Since then, I’ve completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher training through Brown University, earned my 200-hour yoga teacher accreditation, and continued to deepen my commitment to sharing mindfulness and body-based practices as tools for resilience, healing, and renewal. And it is in this endeavor, of awakening to the present moment, to the body, and to our shared humanity, that I hope you’ll join me.
